The Kebabangan Field development involves installation of facilities to process gas and crude. Undersea pipelines transport gas / condensate from the Kebabangan platform to the Sabah Oil & Gas Terminal (SOGT) for subsequent processing. The effectiveness of the environmental management plan during the development and operational phases are assessed through and environmental monitoring, that provides information on compliance to relevant conditions and regulations, and leads to improvement identification.

Environmental monitoring for the development of KBB facility and pipeline route has been conducted quarterly since Quarter 1 of 2013. Environmental monitoring includes collection of water quality and chemistry data, sediment chemical quality and particle size, macrobenthos, zoo- and phyto-plankton, and chlorophyll, in replicates of five or ten dependent on site.

Under contract to Chemsain Konsultant Sdn Bhd, and on behalf of KPOC, MRF assisted with data analysis in 2018, and with field surveys and data analysis in 2019.
